The three-day holiday marks the end of Ramadan, the most sacred month on the Islamic calendar. After 30 days of fasting, practising self-restraint and discipline, and worshipping God, Eid acts as a reward for those observing the religion.
On the day, Muslims meet friends and family, exchange gifts, visit the local mosque for Salat al-Eid (Eid prayer) and dress in their best clothes. Seriously, if you want to feel like you’re at a photoshoot for Vogue, just stand near a mosque on the day of Eid.
