Go-To Nourishing Oil Cleanser Review

Dear favourite cleanser,

I think we need to breakup . . . or maybe just take a break?! It's not you, it's me. I've found a love closer to home and I'm becoming obsessed. Thanks for the good times and good skin,

Love, Bree

That's basically how the conversation went (in my head) when I made my way to the bathroom cabinet for Go-To Skin Care's new Fancy Face Nourishing Oil Cleanser ($45) instead of my trusty Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. The Go-To team generously sent me the fancy new face cleanser pre-launch so that I could alert you, good-skin-loving-people, to my (and probably soon to be your) new favourite cleanser. Let me break it down . . .

The Cute-as-Hell Peachy Packaging

It's exactly what you've come to know and love from Zoe Foster Blake's sassy skincare brand. The product description is witty, relatable and gives you a little giggle while expertly explaining exactly what it does for your skin.

I also love that they've chosen to put the cleanser in a pump bottle as they tend to result in less product wastage (which is great news for your wallet!). That said, for an oil cleanser loaded with goodness like this one, it's super affordable at just $45.

The Formula

Not only does it promise to remove all your makeup, including things like liquid eyeliner and zinc, it's also said to leave your skin feeling soft, clean and hydrated thanks to the combination of sunflower, sweet almond, camellia, passionfruit seed and argan oils. It's a super light-weight oil blend that rubs on without feeling heavy or greasy, it doesn't foam up or get bubbly, it kind of just melts away at your makeup and any excess sebum and dirt, while your skin soaks up the antioxidants, fatty acids and vitamins from the oils. You wash it away with warm water and you're left with soft, clean skin.

First Impressions

Full disclosure, I was hesitant to use an oil-based cleanser. My skin usually freaks out when it comes to any kind of rich skincare, especially oils. But this specific combination of botanical oils and extracts seems to have just been soaked up by my skin. It hasn't broken out or felt irritated like it historically has. Oh, and did I mention it smells good, like real GOOD?

The Wash

It was super gentle on my skin and it did as promised, removing all of my makeup, even my Kat Von D Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner (and that liner's got the staying power of a stage-5 clinger!). I also loved that it came with a soft little muslin cloth to help wash your face. You simply soak it in warm water and wipe away the excess cleanser once you've finished washing your face, much better than a scratchy ol' face washer.

Final Thoughts

I have since benched my usual cleanser while I give this one a proper go. It usually takes a month or two for me to see the lasting benefits of a new skin care product, so watch this space as I give this product the opportunity it deserves to give me that famous Go-To glow.
