A Breakdown of the Beauty Treatments Angie Kent Gets in a Year:
Angie revealed to the publication the exact treatments she gets per year — everything from her weekly spray tans and blow dries, to her biannual botox and injectables — and it was estimated to sit around the $26,700 mark in total.
And while that figure might make your eyes water, as a beauty writer, and a someone whose yearly beauty bill probably lands somewhere in the thousands, I get it.
After becoming a reality TV regular, Angie became a public figure and influencer who would continue to develop brand ambassadorships, make TV appearances and create sponsored content for Instagram.
In her own words, she went "from sitting on my couch in my PJs to wearing a fancy dress with my hair and make-up professionally done. Of course it was a shock to viewers, but my appearance doesn't change who I am as a person. I was very much myself [onscreen]."
So it's pretty understandable that she would have regular beauty appointments to make sure she looks and feels her best to do something that's now essentially her job.
Angie candidly went on to explain that her beauty regime included botox and injectables which obviously accounts for a good chunk of the price tag.
"I'm a huge fan of ageing gracefully, but I'm also a massive fan of injectables and treatments," she explained.
"I've been open about getting the same work done for the past five years. I've been honest about getting Botox. In fact, I'm mad for a little bit of Botox. I'd never not have it."
The article also estimated that the average Australian woman spends roughly $3,600 per year, while women in their 20s and 30s (Angie's age bracket) are spending upwards of $14,000 per year. So when you take into consideration the fact that she's also a public figure and only spending double that, it's not that jaw dropping tbh.
After the piece ran in Sunday's paper, Ange took to Instagram to clarify that the cost of her annual beauty treatments wasn't supposed to be the key takeaway, in fact, it was supposed to be about encouraging women to do whatever makes them feel good.
"Today i'm on the cover of @bodyandsoul_au which I absolutely loved doing and working with the fabulous team there. This photoshoot was so out of my normal Angie steeze and came at such a great time when I was feeling like balls during my breakup," her post began.
"However, I do feel the headline on the front cover is a bit 'clickbaity' and very much not how I would go about saying, ladies 'you do you'."
"I am a huge believer in celebrating women and all the effort they have to put in to sometimes fit this idea of a 'glow up' or just how much freakin effort that goes into getting ready for work or a cheeky night out or even a shit date."
"We're extremely hard workers and people forget we're not only that, but we can also spend a shit load of time taking care of ourselves. It can be exhausting. I never shy away from talking about my love for facial treatments and taking care of my skin, taming my mono brow, a cheeky blow dry, avoiding too much sun, so love me some fake tan. BUT, I also love love love embracing my imperfections too! Im a self confessed grublet at the best of times."
She went on to explain that she does these things for herself and her biggest investment will always be in her "mental and physical health".
"The biggest investment of all, has always been in my mental and physical health and my soul. Which I am very vocal about."
Fans and friends alike commented on Angie's post saying how inappropriate it was for the publication to focus on the price tag and injectables when they clearly missed her main message of "you do you".
"Well said 🙌🏼 I was actually talking about the body & soul cover with my housemate this morning.. how you were just expressing saying YOU DO YOU. And you were owning your space. But they've twisted it into a headline that isn't a true reflection of your values. I'm really proud of you for being vulnerable and open ✨ You are such a beautiful person inside & out. Your authentic self always shines through, no matter what the headline is. Power to you ♥️ x" actress and fellow Bachelorette alum Sam Frosts comment read.
