Turns out, all that glitters is silver. Or at least for Jennifer Lopez, who wore a sparkling baby french manicure to the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, “Shotgun Wedding,” on Jan. 18. On the carpet, J Lo held up her sophisticated nails against her sheer Valentino gown, the silver tips serving as the perfect complement to her bejeweled dress.
The baby french manicure is an ideal style for a more glamorous look like this. Lili and Cata salon cofounder Lilly Rojas previously described the trend to POPSUGAR as “your typical french mani but with a thinner accent line on the tip of the nail.” And while the mani typically creates a clean and classic finish, Lopez bumped her nails up a notch with a sparkly metallic polish to match the glitz on her gown.
For major events such as these, Lopez turns to her trusted nail artist Tom Bachik, who’s also responsible for Margot Robbie’s recent “supermodel” nails and Selena Gomez‘s deep french manicure. On Instagram, Bachik described the look as “Lip Gloss Nails with a glitter liner,” saying he started by giving Lopez a soft stiletto shape, then mixing a semisheer custom color to play off her skin tone.
Together, Lopez and Bachik have accomplished a series of fun styles, from chic monochromatic pink nails to a festive candy-cane-inspired manicure to kick off the holiday season. But no matter the occasion, Lopez always adds her own touch, as seen with these baby french nails. It’s like Rojas said: “It’s not your mother’s french mani.”
