The reasons to check out Lori Harvey’s January/February cover story with POPSUGAR are plentiful, but if we had to choose just one, it’d be for the boundless beauty inspiration. Harvey, who talked about everything from what it was like growing up famous to her latest namesake business endeavor, Skn by LH, did so while dressed to the nines and wearing one particular makeup look that’s taking the beauty world by storm: the “banana” eyeliner trend.

Categorised by a crescent-shaped stroke of eyeliner in the crease of the eye, the “banana” eyeliner makeup trend originated in the 1960s and was most famously worn by Twiggy. Since then, the graphic liner look has made a strong comeback and amassed a long list of celebrity fans, Harvey included. What’s special about the trend is how the eyeliner shape floats on the eyelid, suspended above the lashes.

Makeup artist Diana Shin used black eyeliner to frame Harvey’s silver, sparkly glitter eyeshadow in a banana shape. Shin paired it with the reserve-eyeliner trend by adding two disconnected flicks of liquid liner to the outer corner of Harvey’s eye and her lower lash line for extra drama. (Because why just wear one makeup trend when you can wear two?)
