My Disney Dreams Come True With MAC Cosmetic’s Limited Edition Collection

If you’re a fan of iconic makeup collaborations then this new collection from makeup favourites MAC Cosmetics is the stuff of nostalgic dreams. Coloured cosmetics lovers and Disney fans get ready for the ultimate kitsch collabs as MAC dips into its vault to celebrate its 40th birthday, re-launching its bestselling shades and iconic products from previous Limited Edition Disney collections, inspired by fan favourites Aladdin, Cinderella and Maleficent.

I vividly remember adding MAC Matte Lipstick in Dark Deed to my birthday wish list shortly after the original collection, Venomous Villains, was released in 2010. I never got my hands on the lipstick back then, but now I feel like my childhood dreams have come true as the shade makes a return – it’s like reconnecting with an old friend.

I’m not the only one excited about the relaunch. People have gone wild for some of the cult favourites from MAC. One Redditer wrote: “Yesss! I loved the Maleficent line, think about it often!”, while another added: “Loving all these companies bringing back their OG vibes!! I remember wanting the Cinderella compact so badly in 2015.” A third makeup-lover typed: “Wow, what a blast from the past! I remember when the villains collection was first released … I had the entire Maleficent line!”

MAC Disney 40 Favourites: Aladdin

The 2019 live-action Aladdin flick, starring Naomi Scott and Will Smith, inspired the recently re-released Aladdin MAC collection so you can try (or re-try) the enchanting hues of the Jasmine’s Wish Eye Shadow Palette (£35), the ever-glossy Jewels On Jewels Lip Glass (£22) or the Matte Lipstick in Princess Incognito (£25).

MAC Disney 40 Favourites: Maleficent

The Maleficent set of the relaunch, hailing from the MAC Venomous Villains collection, is bringing back villainous glamour to give your eye makeup a legendary, lustrous glow. Start with the She Who Dares Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo (£25) or combine (my favourite) the Amplified Lipstick in Dark Deed (£25) with the Lip Glass in Wrong Spell (£22) for a truly iconic look that makes it feel good to be bad.

My Top Picks From the MAC X Disney Collection

Finally getting my hands on Dark Deed was a fairytale of it’s own: ‘Beauty journalist finally meets the lipstick of her pre-teen dreams.’ But I’m also excited to experiment with the Pretty It Up pigment from the Cinderella range, MAC’s concentrated loose colour powders have been highly praised.

Similarly, the Aladdin eye shadow palette in Jasmine’s Wish immediately caught my eye as I plan trying more eye-makeup this summer, and whether that’s by adding a subtle shimmer or smoky effect to my eye, and this feels like a great place to start.
