7 Beauty Hacks We Learnt From Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch
First up, we're not surprised that Madelaine Petsch was Vogue's next choice for their Beauty Secrets series, her skin and makeup is forever flawless. And secondly, we're impressed, girls got a 38-step (yes, you read that right, THIRTY EIGHT-STEP) beauty routine! So naturally we watched and re-watched every minute of it so that we could uncover all her best beauty hacks that you can work into your own morning ritual.
1. Keep your skin tools in the freezer
"My face is very puffy in the morning so ice has always been a thing. . . I put it in an ice bucket today, but I usually keep it in the freezer, and it just kind of de-puffs my face. If you don't have one of these at home I just recommend sticking your face in an ice bucket for 20 minutes."
2. Work a lip scrub into your daily routine
"Usually, I will put hot water on it first and then you just scrub-a-dub-dub. . . it's kind of lie a little massage for your lips to, like all the blood comes to your lips and they just look better. I do this twice a day, I do it before and after [lipstick.] . . . I always put a lip mask on after [scrubbing] for a little bit, I use a lot and layer it on"
3. Never drag under your eye when applying eye cream, always pat
"Never, ever drag under your eye, that's something I learned from Riverdale. Always pat!"
4. Invest in a neck cream
"Don't forget your neck. . . it's such an important part" "I have a neck cream, I'm 25 and I have a neck cream . . . My mum always puts her beauty products all the way down onto her collarbone, and I feel like you learn a lot of great beauty secrets from your mum."
5. Try using an eyelash primer before your mascara!
"I love using a primer, eyelash primer is huge for me . . . this is used so much that it [the brand name] has rubbed off, so I don't know what it is. It's kind of like when you prime your skin, it just gets your skin ready for whatever you're gunna do, so I feel like this gets my eyelashes ready for the day."
6. Madelaine makes a strong case for using a DRY beauty blender
"Now this is strange, I use a dry beauty blender, I think it works better. Typically you should run it under water and squeeze it until it gets full like a regular sponge. I accidentally used a dry beauty blender on my face on Riverdale one day, and it got my concealer and my face SO much better than a wet one! I feel like wet ones sometimes pick up extra makeup off your face. Give it a try and then talk to me! If you still hate it, totally fair."
7. Use a lash comb
"This is something I discovered a little while ago and just can't live without, it's a lash comb, but it's curved. So it goes to the contour of your eye. It just really spreads them out"
