Earlier this week, Martha Stewart made history as the oldest cover star to grace Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue, which prompted many people online to speculate about the “work” she’s had done. In response, during an interview with Variety, the lifestyle expert made one thing clear: she hasn’t done much.
When asked whether or not she’s had any plastic surgery or other cosmetic treatments, Stewart was candid. “Every now and then there are certain fillers that I can do for a little line here or there, but I hate Botox,” she said. “It’s a weird thing for me. I really and truly don’t do a lot.”
As far as plastic surgery goes, Stewart laid it all on the table. “I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever,” she said. “I have very healthy, good hair. I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors. I’m very careful in the sun. I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day.”
Stewart’s stance on aesthetic treatments comes at a time when small nips and tucks seem to be more popular than ever. Thanks to the ubiquity of social media apps like TikTok, information about minimally invasive procedures has become more accessible. This has allowed things like buccal fat removal, “trap Botox,” and eyebrow lifts to trend. While some celebrate the accessibility of this information, others wonder if the rise in these treatments will result in more unrealistic beauty standards.
Whichever group you fall into, note that your decision to do any “tweakments” should remain fully up to you. Whether you do like Stewart and opt to just get a little filler or you want to go undergo a bigger surgery, the choice is yours.
