MECCA Beauty Election 2023 Winners Across 18 Categories

Every year, MECCA’s Beauty Election is a great way to narrow down the seemingly endless array of beauty products and brands on offer. The election lets the beauty community in Australia and New Zealand vote for a month period on their favourite products.

Over 42,000 votes were cast, naming 114 bestsellers among 180 brands and 19 categories, including best moisturiser, best personal fragrance and best kept secret. So, which products made the cut?

Well, unsurprisingly, TikTok-viral Glow Recipe Watermelon Niacinamide Dew Drops ($56) was crowned best oil or serum. If you’re not familiar with the face serum, it gives skin a dewy glow without using glitter, pearls or mica. It’s a lightweight gel that hydrates, brightens and highlights, and can be used before moisturiser or as the last step in your beauty routine for a glossy finish.

The best SPF, among the many, was voted MECCA’s own brand MECCA COSMETICA. To Save Body SPF50+ Hydrating Sunscreen ($40) was crowned winner in the category, with the product being lightweight, non-greasy and hydrating, as well as water-resistant and quick-drying.

And finally, best kept secret category winner was Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel ($32), which is a fast-acting, two-step treatment that lifts away dead skin, excess oil and impurities, and improves uneven skin tone and textures. The product also works to help the rest of your skincare absorb faster.
