Mecca's New Glow-Giver Exfoliating Solution Is the Perfect Dupe For This Cult Fave
If Glossier is a cult, I am a worshipper. Even before I briefly lived in a LA I was a massive fan of the skincare brand, and spent a lot of money getting it shipped here to Australia. Who am I kidding, I still spend a lot of money getting it sent here to me in Australia.
But luckily, my job now allows me to hunt for the perfect local dupes for their best-sellers. My most recent find: Mecca Cosmetica's new Glow-Giver Exfoliating Solution ($40) is the perfect dupe for Glossier's Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector and here's why . . .
Let's start with the formula
Similar to Glossier's solution, Glow-Giver is formulated with a 10 percent blend of three active acid groups; Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA), meaning it works hard to gently exfoliate the skin to improve overall texture, remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. Mecca's formula also contains natural plant extracts making it gentle enough on the skin for regular use, without throwing your acid mantle out of balance.
Glow-Giver is also a rinse-free formula, meaning you apply a few pumps to a cotton pad and swipe it onto your face, neck and décolletage and leave it to work it's magic. It's best to use an exfoliating solution like this two to three times a week post-cleanse, and I would suggest incorporating it into your night time routine as acids like AHA's and BHA's can increase your skins sensitivity to the sun. If you'd prefer to work it into your morning routine, be sure to apply an SPF50 like Mecca Cosmetic To Save Face SPF50+ SuperScreen ($40) over the top to protect your skin from any sun damage. While you may already wear an SPF everyday, it might be a lower dose SPF (SPF15 or SPF30) if you're going to use this solution regularly I'd suggest upping the SPF factor to at least SPF50.
How much is it?
Glow-Give will set you back around $40, which is super reasonable give that it's such an active ingredient heavy skincare product.
My personal feels
This little baby only landed on my desk (or should I say dining table) last week just before launching, so I've only used it twice. But, so far it's ticking all the right boxes for me and I'm genuinely excited to see the results over the coming months. (Editors note: it usually takes around three months for your skin to adjust and see long term results from any new product). Visibly though, you can usually see results after a week or two of use when it comes to exfoliating solutions, and already I have noticed my skin is visibly smoother and brighter. Will report back soon with more results.
In the meantime, you can get your hands on Mecca Cosmetic's new Glow-Giver Solution and see it in action below.
