When pharmaceutical scientist Hannah Collingwood English gives a beauty product her tick of approval, we listen. And the latest to catch her eye? Murad Retinal Resculpt Overnight Treatment ($170), created by Dr Howard Murad, a Harvard-trained dermatologist and pharmacist.

Since the product, which builds on the brand’s much-loved Retinol Youth Renewal Serum, launched on July 3 in Australia, it’s been sold at a rate of 1 unit every seven minutes.

The Retinal Resculpt Overnight Treatment works on all skin types: balanced, oily, dry and combination. It lifts and improves the look of sagging skin, smooths deep-set wrinkles, increases skin elasticity and helps even out skin texture. Its science-backed ingredients are encapsulated in a delivery system for targeted delivery deep within the skin’s surface, all with minimal irritation.

The serum is made of olive leaf extracts, oat lipids and alpha glucan, which work together to support skin’s resilience, boost moisture and counter traditional vitamin A drawbacks like dryness and irritation. It also includes kangaroo paw flower, which supercharges the serum and helps support the skin’s structure, amplifying the lifting and sculpting benefits. And, of course, the product includes retinal, one of the most efficacious forms of vitamin A.

“It’s an instant hall of fame,” says Collingwood English. “Giving your skin a lift.” She also shares that in her 30s, she’s gotten a bit insecure about her skin and that this product delivers results.

To use Retinal Resculpt Overnight Treatment, first cleanse and dry your skin. Then, apply a thin layer of it to your face and neck as part of your nighttime skin routine. Follower with moisturiser, and you’re good to go. If you experience any sensitivity, switch to a non-retinol night cream. If you’re using it during the day, be sure to apply sunscreen with a high SPF.
