Every Product Olympia Valance Uses To Achieve Effortless, Dewy Skin
One scroll through Australian Actress, Olympia Valance's Instagram and three things become immediately clear: she's real, relatable and her skin is the level of flawlessness that you could only imagine one would reach after spending a month by the ocean bathing in salt water, sunshine and fresh coconut cocktails. When in reality, she puts it down to good skincare, long bathes and fresh, countryside air.
We caught up with Neutrogena's newest partner to find out every product she uses in the aforementioned skincare routine (hint: it includes their new Bright Boost range), the secret to getting eight hours sleep a night and why a glass of red wine is self-care, too. See — relatable.

POPSUGAR Australia: Can you walk us through your morning skincare routine . . .
Olympia: If I've worked out in the morning I'll take a shower post gym, otherwise I'll wash my face with cold water. If I haven't slept well or I've had a few too many wines the night before (COVID isolation, AM I RIGHT?!), I'll also rub an ice cube under my eyes and over my cheeks to reduce that morning puffiness.
I'll always wash my face morning and evening: I particularly love Liberty Belle's Braveheart Cleanser and Aspect's Gentle Clean Facial Cleanser. My friend recently got me back onto toner which I hadn't used since I was a teenager! I'm trying Ole Henriksen's Dark Spot Toner (I love being out in the sun so I'm hoping this will slowly help with any sun damage I'm battling).
I'll follow this with a serum. Neutrogena's Bright Boost Illuminating Serum is particularly good in the morning because it assists with that glowy, smooth, effortlessly excellent skin we're all chasing. I then mix my facial cream (Neutrogena's Bright Boost Gel Cream) with a pump of Drunk Elephant's Sunshine Drops which gives a subtly sunkissed look (without the actual sun because it is freezing in Melbourne and we're a long way off getting the green light on a tropical holiday!). If I know I'm going to be outside I'll also add some sunscreen into this concoction too.
PS: And evening . . .
Olympia: I'm an avid bath lover, so I like to end my day relaxing in the tub. The added steam and heat also helps to open my pores allowing for a deep clean and removal of the days make up and natural oil build up. Given the amount of time we all currently have at home, it's a really nice way to show yourself some care and peace and indulge in a slightly longer routine you wouldn't usually have the time for.
Three nights a week I begin my routine with a glass of red wine, followed by a deep exfoliation. For the past month I've been test driving Neutrogena's Bright Boost Micro Face Polish which I'm LOVING. I think it can be hard to find an exfoliator which actually works and this one truly does strip away those dead skin cells and congestion. My skin has been visibly softer and brighter.
At night I can be a bit heavier on my creams to really hydrate my skin while I'm sleeping, so I'll usually mix a couple of drops of facial oil (I love Go-To's Face Hero and Drunk Elephant's Virgin Marula Oil) into my face cream (Neutrogena's Bright Boost Gel Cream).
PS: If you've only got 5 minutes to get ready what products do you reach for?
Olympia: I think beautiful, dewy skin is the most important thing, so I'll prioritise a great base over anything else. My day to day go to is, MAC's Face and Body Foundation paired with a little bronzer (you can't go past NARS Laguna) and mascara (I love Hourglass). Quick hacks? Get ready faster! And a bright red, poppy lip makes you look like you've put in far more effort than you actually have. Also fragrance always (I love Le Labo The Noir 29).
PS: When you do get a moment to yourself to practice self-care, what's the first thing you do?
Olympia: Pour myself a bath. It's the perfect moment of quietness in the day that is just for me. In an ideal world, some beautiful bath salts, a couple of candles and a glass of red wine are the perfect accompaniment. Don't underestimate a bath in self-isolation too! You can create such a luxurious moment all within the comfort of your own home.
What are your go-to wellness activities?
Olympia: An early morning walk as the sun is rising does wonders for my mental health. It allows me to start the day with fresh air, peace and clarity. I recently purchased a piece of land outside of Melbourne and this is my favourite way to start my mornings with views over the paddocks and trees surrounding me. I swear by massage, which obviously we can't do at the moment given self isolation! I also see a psychologist regularly, which I can't recommend enough.
PS: Being an actress you often work crazy hours on set, do you have any sleep hacks to make sure you're well rested and ready to go?
Olympia: I do really need eight hours a night and I very much feel it when I'm getting less than this. A bath before bed really helps — it really relaxes me on a deep muscular level and helps me fall asleep pretty much instantly. I also try to not have any caffeine after 12noon.
