4. Wood Over Rubber
Always, always choose orangewood sticks over rubber cuticle pushers. The wood is more firm, meaning you have more leverage when you're in the process of pushing cuticles back. Now that you've used your cuticle softener in step three, you can work your way around the your nail beds, pushing any skin that lies on top of the nail back towards your knuckle. Once all the cuticles have been pushed back (be gentle!), you're ready for the next step. Our favourites? Manicare Cuticle Sticks ($2.70) — they work a hundred times better than their soft rubber counterparts.
