Selena Gomez’s “Skittles” Nails Adds a Pop of Color to Her LBD

Selena Gomez embraced the adage that more is more when she paid a visit to celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik on Dec. 3 and fell in love with every shade in his kit. “When Sel says she likes them all,” Bachik captioned a photo of Gomez getting ready to attend Variety’s 2022 Hitmakers Brunch at City Market Social House in Los Angeles. The “Ice Cream” singer showed off her new “Skittles” nails alongside a faux crocodile-print Aspinal of London handbag in black.

Rather than opt for one color or a classic accent nail, Gomez decided to embrace the rainbow, rocking a fuchsia pink on her thumbs and cool pastels on the rest of her fingers. Gomez’s full “Skittles” manicure color palette included Maya Blue, Peppermint, Lavender, Peace & Love, and Bleu de France from Mia Secret’s Gelux gel polish collection.

The colorful nail trend has been worn by countless celebrities, including Harry Styles, Madelaine Petsch, and Ashley Benson, who put a neon twist on the nail trend earlier this year. While Gomez took a more subdued approach to the “Skittles” look, her cool color palette created the perfect contrast against her black velvet dress on the red carpet.

Earlier this season, the “Only Murders in the Building” star did a complete 180 and went for a taupe manicure, also applied by Bachik. The earthy tone was offset by a glossy top coat that created the illusion of a shimmery finish.
