The Insanely Cool Way Tessa Thompson Held Her Curls Back on the Red Carpet

Tessa Thompson's Choker Hair Tie at Venice Film Festival

When you’re a superhero, you can’t just use a regular elastic to hold your hair back – you need something a little more powerful, like jewellery. Take it from Tessa Thompson. On Aug. 31, the “Thor: Love and Thunder” actor stepped out for the opening ceremony of Venice Film Festival with a gorgeous auburn hair colour and striking slicked-back curls. From the front, Thompson wore a diamond-covered chain as a choker, but from the back, you could see that the necklace actually held her hair back as well. “A choker hair tie will be all the rage,” Lacy Redway, Thompson’s hairstylist, wrote on Instagram. She explained that the “choker hair moment” is “becoming a signature” style for them.

Thompson looked cool as ever with the choker around her neck and her hair. Styled by Wayman Deon and Micah McDonald – aka Wayman and Micah – Thompson wore an archival Armani Privé dress from the SS09 Couture collection and Giuseppe Zanotti heels. She paired the chic red carpet look with slim sunglasses. Thompson’s precious diamond-covered rings and choker were Pomellato.

While Thompson’s creative choker hair tie moment on the red carpet looked chic from every single angle, it’s surprisingly not the first time she and Redway have styled her hair with a multifunctional accessory. At the “Westworld” premiere in June, they used a thick black ribbon to set Thompson’s hair back. “I added this last-minute ribbon detail to double as a choker and a hair accessory to complete and complement the look. It’s all in the details,” Redway wrote on Instagram at the time.

Talk about setting a trend. Check out photos of Thompson’s super-cool choker hairstyle at Venice Film Festival ahead.
