Tinashe has arrived at the American Music Awards in style. The singer commanded all eyes on the red carpet in a pair of logomania Marc Jacobs sunglasses, but it was her Bantu knots that really stole the show.
Tinashe opted for mini bantu knots using triangular parts to separate each twist instead of traditional squares. While no additional hair jewelry was added, the hairstyle added an edgy finish to her two-piece ensemble, a finish that was only exacerbated by the sky-high platforms that she was also wearing.
Bantu knots are the perfect protective hairstyle for year-round wear, as they can take you from vacation to a formal event with ease. Case in point? Actor Yara Shahidi gave the style a breezy update this past summer, opting to keep the ends of her knots untucked for an effortless feel to the style. Her “Black-ish” costar Marsai Martin was also spotted in the style months later – except her version of the look was achieved using braids, and the knots only covered the front of her head. If that doesn’t scream versatility, then we don’t know what will.
