Kyly and Michael Clarke
Australian cricket's biggest names stepped out for the 2015 Allan Border Medal on Tuesday night. The red carpet was rolled out at Carriageworks in Sydney's Eveleigh ahead of the official ceremony, where Steve Smith was awarded the highest individual honour in Australian cricket, making him the youngest recipient of the Allan Border Medal in a decade. He also won the Test player of the year award and the ODI player of the year award. In a touching moment during the night's proceedings, Sean Abbott, the young bowler who delivered the ball that tragically felled his friend Phillip Hughes, was named the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year. He accepted his award in a pre-recorded message, saying, "I am thankful for the support of the Australian cricket family and wider community, as well as my own family, close friends and teammates, and especially my girlfriend Brier. I feel privileged to receive such an award, especially after a couple of good seasons in a row on the field and some tough off seasons pushing myself to continually improve. I feel that this is a reward for a lot of good work and finally putting some consistent good performances together."
The man of the night, Steve, attended with his girlfriend, Dani Willis, while Test cricket captain Michael Clarke escorted his Steven Khalil-clad wife Kyly Clarke down the arrivals line. New parents David Warner and Candice Falzon also made a stunning pair on the red carpet, and expectant couple Lee and Shane Watson put the spotlight on Lee's baby bump. But it wasn't just about players from the men's team, with female cricketers Ellyse Perry and Meg Lanning getting glamorous for the occasion; Meg was honoured with the Belinda Clark Medal.
