Abbie vs Elly Is the New Bachelor Rivalry None of Us Expected
Abbie Chatfield and Elly Miles have been two of the biggest frontrunners in the race for Matt Agnew's heart on the latest season of The Bachelor. Despite both of their statuses as firm favourites of our beloved Bachie, it seemed Elly's gentle and kind nature prevented her from becoming as frustrated by Abbie as most of the other contestants have been.
However, in a twist we certainly didn't see coming, it appears Abbie and Elly went from civil to full blown rivals by the end of tonight's episode.
It all started in the previous episode when Abbie convinced Elly to selflessly give up her date card for her. Expecting Abbie would return the favour, Elly explained to the other women that she hoped to be the first person to speak to Matt at the cocktail party. Despite having made her intentions crystal clear, Abbie chose to forego any pretence of 'girl code' by instead asking Matt if she could chat to him first.
Even someone as as patient as Elly took offence to Abbie's bold move, which led her to approaching the pair to cut short their conversation.
Not only that, but once she was alone with Matt, Elly spilt the beans about exactly what she now thinks of Abbie and her motives.
"I just don't think Abbie's taking this thing very seriously, I don't know if she has the most true intentions," she said, "I think maybe she thinks she's ready to move to Melbourne, to settle down with you and think about marriage and a family, and she's convincing . . . I don't think she's emotionally mature enough for that."
Although she was unaware of Elly's conversation with Matt, Abbie was undeterred by Elly's evident annoyance, saying, "why would I send Matt over to speak to [her] when we're in direct competition to fall in love with this man . . . it is absolutely ridiculous"
"Honestly right now I couldn't care less if the girls in the house love me or hate me, all I care about is Matt . . . Elly is without a doubt a control freak, and the more I get to know her the more I'm seeing cracks in her facade . . .she has a lot of growing up to do."
Well, safe to say there's no longer any love lost between these two. Check out how all the intensity unfolded below.
