Singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her London apartment, London police have confirmed in multiple reports. She was 27. The Metropolitan Police said in a statement:
Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.
The Grammy Award-winning singer had previously battled substance abuse, and had been in and out of rehab over the years. At the end of June she cut short a European comeback tour after her earlier concerts showed she was not in the right condition to perform. The Daily Mail reports that she was spotted earlier this week at the iTunes Festival. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
