Australia's Got Talent Host Grant Denyer Reports Chooka Parker Threw Tantrum After Missing Grand Final Spot

Chooka Parker Throws Tantrum After Missing AGT Final Spot

The competition on Australia’s Got Talent this year is so fierce that naturally judges Kyle Sandilands, Dannii Minogue and Brian McFadden want to put everyone through to the grand final. Someone who unfortunately missed out on a spot last night was piano prodigy Chooka Parker, who has wowed viewers with his untrained, natural piano talent. Brian had the tough decision of choosing between Chooka and dance group Instant Bun, and went with the latter because he felt they had shown more growth throughout the competition. At the time of the announcement on the Sunday recording, Chooka said, “Thanks everyone for having me. My aim is just to make people feel better through my music.”

According to the show’s host Grant Denyer, things were a little different when Chooka returned backstage. Talking to Melissa Doyle and David Koch on Sunrise this morning, Grant said, “It’s amazing what 15 minutes of fame can do. I was in the halls just next to it — I didn’t see it — but I spoke to people who did witness it, and it appears that after Chooka was voted off the show . . . backstage in the hallways he wrapped a jumper around his hand and started punching the walls and windows of the production office, which scared a lot of the staff around there, and there were small children . . . [It’s] a little disappointing.” Grant also said that Chooka was one of the nicest contestants and that his behaviour was unexpected, adding that he hoped it was just a hot-headed moment.

For his part, Chooka told the Bendigo Advertiser, “Everyone on there is so good, so I am not worried about it too much. I will still be out busking. You will see me in the streets performing.” He also says that his attitude hasn’t changed and that he’ll most likely go back to his former life on the farm: “It was not like that was going to be my career, it was just a show.”
