Robin Gibb has passed away at the age of 62. His family released a statement today: “The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
The musician, who found fame as one of the founding members of the Bee Gees with his elder brother Barry and twin Maurice, had been suffering from colon cancer since 2010. He was plagued by health problems over the past two years. A few weeks ago he woke from a coma and stayed in intensive care at a London hospital.
The Bee Gees gave us great, iconic hits including “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Tragedy” and “More Than a Woman.” Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
