The Met Gala Was Meant to Be Tomorrow — Let's Revisit 2019's Most Iconic Looks
Tomorrow usually marks one of the biggest events on the fashion calendar (and our favourite day of the year), the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Met Gala. However, in the wake of coronavirus, this year's event has been postponed indefinitely.
Louis Vuitton was originally supposed to host the "About Time" themed gala, with Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière serving as cochair alongside Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and, of course, Anna Wintour. Every year the Met Gala calls on the biggest stars from film, music, fashion, and more to converge in NYC and show us their most outrageous ensembles, and boy do they deliver!
Last year, the theme was "Camp: Notes on Fashion", and while some stars appropriately went all-out with the kitschy, over-the-top theme (we're lookin' at you, Katy Perry), others kept things slinkier and sexier on the red carpet. Remember Lady Gaga's four iconic looks? Or Billy Porter arriving on the shoulders of not one, but six shirtless men? (drool). We also saw couples like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen showed off some sweet PDA, while Zendaya had her Cinderella moment and Jared Leto, well, he carried his own head around all night (yes, really) — only at the Met Gala, right?
