The Bickmore Backlash: Carrie Under Fire for Oprah Report

Last week we were baffled by Carrie Bickmore’s report on Oprah's Australian Countdown Special talking about Australian culture, which mostly talked about our love for McDonalds. We were a little confused we she said Aussies tended to hold meetings and catch up with girlfriends at hip McCafes. Things became a lit-tle bit clearer when it was revealed that the segment was actually sponsored by the fast food giant. Carrie was quickly labelled a “sell-out” and her Wikipedia page was updated with a scathing assessment of her performance. The comments have since been removed but the whole thing seems to have left a bad taste. What do you think about Carrie’s segment—is she a sell-out or is sponsor promotion part of the trip?
