Filming for the second season of Big Little Lies has officially started, and one of the photos we've been waiting for is finally here! Nicole Kidman gave the world a sneak peek of Meryl Streep in character as the HBO drama's newest (and most high-profile) addition: Mary Louise Wright, the mother of the late Perry Wright. After looking at the photo Kidman shared on Instagram, all we can say is: wow, what a transformation. The wig? The glasses? The whole damn thing is so good!
"First day on the set with Meryl and 'my' darling boys! #BigLittleLies," Kidman captioned the photo. When the news first broke Streep was joining the cast back in January, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern couldn't hide their excitement, and we don't blame them. This is Streep's first major TV role since she starred in HBO's miniseries Angels in America in 2003. To have her back on TV is huge — especially on a show like Big Little Lies that's won so many awards in just its first season alone.
As if that wasn't exciting enough, the photo is also giving die-hard Streep fans a major case of déja vu. In the 1997 movie ". . . First Do No Harm", a very similar scene sees Streep's character reading to a young boy in the same way she appears in Big Little Lies.

Cool, right? This is only the beginning, folks, so prepare for more sneak peeks before the second season debuts in 2019.
