It's Over! Blake and Louise Have Split After 18 Months Together
After a year-and-a-half of dating, reality TV couple Blake Garvey and Louise Pillidge have ended their relationship.
The couple, who got together in controversial circumstances surrounding the 2014 season of The Bachelor, confirmed the sad news to New Idea this week. "We sat down recently and Blake said, 'It's just not working — I feel like we're treading water,'" Louise explained. "I knew deep down that he was right, but I would have never been strong enough to say it. It feels surreal, and since then I've gone through many emotions. I've been crying, numb and angry."
For his part, Blake said the couple had been "walking on eggshells around each other" for months, and that the constant criticism around them had taken a massive toll. "We've both tried so hard to make it work, but the negativity that has surrounded us has changed us as individuals. Sometimes when you try so hard to make it work, you become nervous about being yourself. It was suffocating." Blake and Louise also revealed they'd been undergoing counselling for three months, and that they remain the best of friends while still living together in their Perth apartment.
Blake and Louise first got together in 2014, after Blake's relationship with The Bachelor winner Sam Frost went south. Louise had been Blake's second runner-up in the show — something she says "took months to deal with" and that she had to "build a bridge and get over it if I was serious about making a go of our relationship." After the finale aired, in which Blake proposed to Sam, it was revealed that the couple had split and Blake was dating Louise.
