Karl Lagerfeld Throws Chanel's Most Extravagant, Celeb-Studded Show Yet
Every year for more than a decade, Karl Lagerfeld spins his quilted-leather globe to pick a destination that will be the theme of Chanel's December Chanel Metiers d'Art traveling fashion show. Or at least, that's how we imagine it goes down. This year, Karl's inspiration came from Dallas, the Texas city Coco Chanel visited in 1957 at the invitation of Stanley Marcus, who led Neiman Marcus. Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne, Dakota Fanning, Anna Wintour and Kristen Stewart were all there, with the extravagant show commencing with a 'drive-in movie' style premiere of Karl Lagerfeld's film titled The Return.
"It's going to be over the top and it's going to be spectacular," Ken Downing, the fashion director at Neiman Marcus promised before the show. "I'm anticipating that we're going to see a lot of Dallas and certainly a lot of Texas and the American West translated into the collection." And he couldn't have been more spot on — see a social media round-up of the over the top, spectacular show here in the gallery
