Christoph Waltz in Talks For Water For Elephants; Jeremy Renner in Talks For Battleship
Oscar Nominees Casting Brief: Christoph Waltz and Jeremy Renner
Christoph Waltz and Jeremy Renner have had a stellar year, nabbing Oscar nominations for their roles in Inglourious Basterds and The Hurt Locker, respectively. And now their set to garner even more attention: both are in talks for high-profile roles. 
- Waltz is in talks to star in Water For Elephants opposite Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Waltz' role would be the same Sean Penn was previously lined up for; Witherspoon's character's husband and a "dangerous paranoid schizophrenic animal trainer." Sounds right up his menacing alley.
- Renner, meanwhile, is in negotiations for Battleship, an action movie from Peter Berg based on the board game. I'd expect The Hurt Locker star to play some sort of lead and be more than able to take on another wartime flick.
I immensely enjoyed both actors' performances in the past year, and am happy to see them securing new jobs. That said, I'm sure they're still a little preoccupied with Oscar fever right now.
