It's the question that's been on the minds of all Stranger Things fans since ever since watching the season one finale: does Eleven survive her brutal battle with the demogorgon? Although it's been a few torturously long months without any information, the season two trailer that was unveiled at Comic-Con finally gives us an answer.
It seems that although Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) does indeed survive the fight that obliterated the monster from the Upside Down, she's been trapped there herself for quite some time. As you might recall, Eleven and the demogorgon go head-to-head in a classroom in Hawkins High School in episode eight, which ends when she reduces the creature to black dust using her psychic powers. Even though she succeeds in destroying it, Eleven disappears along with the demogorgon, leaving Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) alone in the empty room thinking the worst (did she sacrifice herself to destroy the demogorgon?!).
At the end of the trailer we see Eleven wandering around the Upside Down version of Hawkins High, still dressed in the same clothes she has on in the battle. She appears to hear Mike calling to her, and finds a portal that spills into the real world, which she reaches her hand into.
We still don't know the extent of her involvement in the show this season (Brown does have a few high-profile film projects lined up, after all), but it looks like she's definitely alive. It's a better deal than Barb got, at least!
