Foxtel Presents 2014 Plans at Star-Studded Event in Sydney
Australian TV personalities gathered at the Sydney Entertainment Centre for Foxtel’s 2014 upfront last night, where the subscription TV network announced its programming plans for the next year. Foxtel revealed that Jennifer Hawkins has signed a new two-year deal as the host of Australia’s Next Top Model, and Jennifer, in Manning Cartell, posed with judge Didier Cohen and this year’s winner Melissa Juratowitch at the event. One of the most anticipated local reality series of 2014 is The Real Housewives of Melbourne, which is currently in production and will air on Arena. The show’s six stars, Andrea Moss, Gina Liano, Lydia Schiavello, Janet Roach, Jackie Gillies and Chyka Keebaugh, were on hand for the upfront in glitzy ensembles that certainly commanded attention.
Foxtel reaffirmed their commitment to quality content and drama by confirming they will air the upcoming seasons of popular shows like Game of Thrones, The Newsroom, House of Cards and Veep. Locally-produced dramas will remain a priority, with women’s prison series Wentworth getting a second series next year, and mini-series The Devil's Playground set to premiere on Showcase. Foxtel also announced two new channels: TV Hits and Syfy.
