On last night’s live verdict show of The X Factor, Guy Sebastian apologised for comments he made after Mitchell Callaway’s performance on Monday night. Guy said, “There’s obviously a time and a place to say something like that and I definitely chose the wrong place to say it and for that I’m really sorry. But I definitely stand by what I say to my boys . . . I’m truly sorry for upsetting Mitchell and choosing the wrong time for saying that.” Guy copped some backlash on Twitter after the incident, with many fans saying he should’ve addressed things with Mitchell off-camera. Today the Daily Telegraph has shed some light on what may have led to Guy’s remarks, reporting that Mitchell had been “stirring up” some of the singers by “pricking them with a pin.” When this happened to Declan Sykes, Guy’s 15-year-old contestant, Declan apparently told Mitchell to “f**k off,” which didn’t go down well with the tattooed contestant (Declan suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome). Both Declan and Mitchell are still in the competition after being saved by fan votes last night — it was Jacqui Newland who exited the show. What do you make of the situation now this side of the story has emerged?
