Harry Potter Voldemort Origins of the Heir Fan Film

This Fan Film About Voldemort's Origins Is So Good, It Could Pass For the Real Deal

The Harry Potter franchise may have come to an end with the Deathly Hallows, so what's a fan to do? Look ahead, of course. Life before Hogwarts, as we know it, is prime source material to delve deeper into JK Rowling's wizarding world — Fantastic Beasts being a prime example. In the same vein, a recently released fan film chooses one of the series' most powerful characters as its subject: the Dark Lord himself.

Titled Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, the 52-minute film explores the early life of Tom Riddle, and the path that led him to become Lord Voldemort. Director and screenwriter Gianmaria Pezzato combines original storytelling and what we already know from the books about Riddle's backstory to form a narrative that quite frankly, can hold its own in the saga. Don't dismiss this has another home video though — from the aesthetics to the production, this one is legit.

Enjoy the film in its entirety above. Are you watching, JK Rowling / Warner Bros.?
