The 2010 Logie Awards are done and dusted. It was a geriatric extravaganza with 71-year-old Bert Newton hosting and Home and Away’s Ray Meagher taking home the Gold Logie at 65. Let’s take a look at the night’s hits and misses.
Hit: Gabriela Climi opening the show. The "Sweet About Me" singer has re-invented herself as a disco diva. We likey.
Miss: Bert Newton. There was clearly a lot of love and respect in the room for Moonface, but dad jokes and awkward banter don’t really make for a snappy, edgy show.
Hit: k.d. lang’s transcendent performance of "Hallelujah" in bare feet added a big dose of class to the ceremony and made everyone forget about Susan Boyle.
Miss: The mashed-up categories. When MasterChef's Matt Preston wins for best new talent over four young actresses, it just doesn’t feel right.
Miss: Rebecca Gibney talking about being pre-menstrual. It’s like Toni Collette talking about being on the loo and missing her category at the Golden Globes. TMI! Keep it classy, kids.
Hit: Josh Thomas talking about being pre-menstrual.

Hit: Vince Colosimo and Kerri-Anne Kennerley holding hands while presenting. KAK—you naughty minx.
Miss: John Mayer having to come out and sing after k.d. lang. I would say he had big shoes to fill, but she wasn’t wearing any.
Miss: Jennifer Hawkins doing fashion commentary before the commercial break. She looked amazing, but needed a little more prep work. She referred to the evening as a chance to celebrate “Australian TV and film” and referred to Tasma Walton as “Tasman.”
Hit: Shaun Micallef’s acceptance speech, which he stole from Sir Laurence Olivier.
Miss: Claudia Karvan’s acceptance speech where she dropped the f-bomb twice after forgetting fellow nominee Asher Keddie’s name.
Hit: Susie Porter’s Angelina Jolie-esq cold stare while Claudia was accepting her award. Yikes!
Hit: Don Hany’s passionate kiss with his fiancée when he won and charming acceptance speech.
Hit: Ray Meagher winning the Gold Logie. Ok, the guy is a TV icon. Throw the old dog a freakin’ bone, already.
Miss: Dannii Minogue tweeting that Ray had won the Gold Logie before it was broadcast on TV because of the time delay.
Hit: Ray’s speech was funny and touching. And not an Alf-ism to be found!
Miss: Holding up TV Week magazine at the end of the show. Cringe.
