At Home With Julia Post Sex Scene With Julia Gillard and Tim Mathieson Wrapped in Australian Flag Controversy

Do You Think At Home With Julia Crossed the Line?

There has been a lot of media buzz surrounding the latest episode of ABC1’s satire At Home With Julia. Earlier this week a photo was released showing Amanda Bishop as Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Phil Lloyd as Tim Mathieson sharing a post-coital cuddle using the Australian flag as a sheet. When the episode aired last night (to an audience of 773,000 viewers), the scene was just a small part of a bigger scenario that was about a miscommunication between Julia and Tim, in which Julia thought Tim wanted a job in government, and Tim thought Julia wanted to get married (it all unravelled at Tim’s birthday party, where guests included Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott and Julie Bishop). Last time we asked if you thought the series was offensive or just good fun, and most of you voted for the latter. What are your thoughts on last night’s episode? Did it cross the line?
