POPSUGAR Australia: So what were you looking forward to at the AACTAs?
Miranda Tapsell: Well I was excited, in particular because my friends Sarah Snook, Harriet Dyer and Deborah Mailman were all nominated, in different categories of course. It just means so much to me to see them [get recognised]. It’s hard because some of them were up against one another and I really wanted them all to win.
PS: Do you find it’s a very supportive community, this industry?
MT: Of course it is! Yeah, yeah, 100 percent.
PS: Did you expect your speech to go viral at the Logies?
MT: No, no! Not at all. It’s very cool. It just meant so much to a wide range of girls, a wide diversity of girls. For me to have that impact meant a lot and all I can do is say what I feel and be honest. It’s just so great that so many wonderful young women were influenced.
PS: And what can we expect from the next season of Love Child?
MT: It’s um . . . Oh, well, you kind of have to watch it babe! [Laughs] There are lots of wonderful things to happen with Martha [her character] so I can’t wait for you to see it.
PS: I can’t imagine you get much time to watch TV but when you do, what’s your favourite thing to watch?
MT: My favourite shows, right — I’m completely nerding out here — How to Get Away With Murder. Love it. Scandal, and I also love Orange Is the New Black. Totally fangirling over those ones.
