Meet "Princess" Diana, One of the Ladies on The Bachelor
Of all the women trying to make a good first impression on Blake Garvey in the promos for The Bachelor, one of the more memorable is Diana, who introduces herself as, "Diana — like the princess." She's also in a ball gown and wearing a tiara. The 28-year-old Disney movie fan, who studies IT in Queensland, is looking for her Prince Charming, and that perfect man could be Blake. We chatted to the sweet, bubbly and giggly blonde this morning to get to know a bit more about her ahead of Wednesday night's premiere episode.
POPSUGAR Australia: Who encouraged you to apply for The Bachelor?
Diana: I think definitely my mum. She thinks I'm getting old enough, like, "Diana, you need to settle down!" and I thought, 'OK.' So I thought why not go on The Bachelor, because I'll have the most ideal guy on earth, so he'll be a perfect choice for a husband.
PS: What was your first impression of Blake?
Diana: My first impression of Blake was just like, 'Wow.' He really took my breath away. He was amazing to look at, and when he spoke I was like, oh my goodness he's so genuine and kind as well. I was taken aback by how amazing he was.
PS: I interviewed him yesterday and I can't get over his voice.
Diana: I know, his voice! I was like, 'Whoa!' You can hear him a mile away. It was like vibrations [laughs].
PS: Did you watch last year's show, and if so what did you think of it?
Diana: I loved last year's show. I've been a pretty big fan of The Bachelor, even the American one, I used to watch it. I could just see, especially with last year's, that it really is possible to find love. I was just so happy for Tim and Anna when they stayed together. They're such a lovely couple, so I thought, 'I really want that.' I was so excited to be a part of it.
PS: It's reassuring to know there's the possibility that it will really work out, and that it's not just for production.
Diana: Yeah, and it's not gonna be your average guy, it's gonna be like the best guy in Australia! [Laughs]
PS: Whose idea was it to portray you as a princess for your introduction?
Diana: [Laughs] It was my idea! I love Disney, so I have always grown up watching the princesses, and I've always wanted to be a Disney princess. I guess throughout my life, with getting people to remember my name, I've always been like, "It's Diana, just like Princess Diana." It's always been a really memorable way for them to remember me. So I thought I'm definitely going to say that when I see the bachelor, and hopefully he'll remember me that way.
PS: Did you get to choose your dress and was it your idea to wear a tiara?
Diana: Yeah, we pretty much got to choose our own dresses — I definitely wanted to go with the princess them, and I really wanted to wear a tiara, too, because it's not every day you can wear a tiara, and I thought, 'I'm gonna go all out. I'm wearing the full princess outfit,' just because it will be memorable, and it's just something you'd never be able to wear again.
