Jack White and Meg White of The White Stripes Announce Band Split After 13 Years Together

Music News: The White Stripes Split After 13 Years

Rock duo Jack White and ex-wife Meg of The White Stripes have announced their decision to split and end their musical work together. During their musical union they recorded six studio albums and won four Grammy Awards. On the band’s official website they released a statement:

The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.

They said there were many reasons leading to the split but refused to say what they were, though they denied it was due to artistic differences or health issues. They thanked their fans and added, “The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to.” Are you sad they’ve called it quits?
