Bachelor in Paradise’s American Jared Has Married Another US Bachelor Contestant
There were many huge personalities on the first season of Bachelor in Paradise Australia. Featuring the likes of Keira Maguire, Tara Pavlovic, Jake Ellis, Michael Turnbull and more, 2018's BIP had plenty of popular former Bachie contestants in the mix.
So, it's no surprise that Jared Haibon, better known as us as 'American Jared', never really stood a chance when it came to meaningful screen time. Not only was Jared an under-the-radar presence throughout the episodes themselves, it it certainly seemed like he never really got a look in from any of the Paradise women either. Despite going on a date here and there, Jared was not able to form a solid connection with any of the eligible Aussie ladies out there in Fiji.
It is easy to assume that Jared's decidedly underwhelming experience on our BIP may not have had any positive effect on his life. However, appearing on the show may actually be the best thing he ever did. Why? Because it led him back to his now-wife.
Turns out, Bachelor in Paradise Australia was not Jared's first appearance on a BIP series. Back in 2015, he participated in the second season of Bachelor in Paradise US. There, he met Ashley Iaconetti, a former Bachelor US contestant. While the pair initially hit it off out on the island, Jared decided wasn't sure he wanted to pursue a relationship with Ashley, and broke things off. From there, the pair continued to spend time together in the outside world, but once again ended things due to Jared's confusion over his feelings.
Both Jared and Ashley ended up also appearing on the third US season of BIP, where Ashley was shown to be heartbroken over seeing Jared with other women. The pair's status as of Jared heading off to film Aussie BIP was that they were just friends, although it was pretty clear Ashley longed for more.
In the end, in a video the couple made about their love story, Jared revealed that it was appearing on our BIP that made him realise how he truly felt about Ashley. "I remember I was on a date with a girl in Paradise [Australia] … and I was just sitting there and thinking, 'God, I wish Ashley were here,'" he said.
Although Ashley had moved on with another Bachelor franchise alumni, Kevin Wendt, by the time Jared returned from Fiji, he still chose to confess his love for her. Before too long, Ashley had broken up with Kevin, and after a few months of dating, she and Jared were officially engaged.
A year and a bit after proposing, and four years after first meeting, Jared married Ashley at a romantic ceremony in Rhode Island, USA. The happy couple now have the rest of their lives ahead of them, and have Australian BIP to thank for at least a small part of that fact.
Although we are not sure we can claim this as an Aussie Bachelor in Paradise success story, as much as we wish we could, we do know we couldn't be more pleased that 'American Jared' got his happy ending after all.
