Katy Perry's Music Video For Fireworks

Sparks Fly in Katy Perry's New Music Video For Fireworks

This is Katy Perry at her most simplistic: no whipped cream gun bra, no blue wig, and no overt sexuality (well, with the exception of lights shooting out of her chest). In Fireworks, the pop star leaves behind her coquettish persona for a more inspirational motif. The video is a call to arms to summon up inner strength, with scenarios like an overweight girl grappling with self-esteem at a pool party, and a gay teen finding the courage to kiss a guy at a club. I know the message is a tad cheesy, but I'll admit I got a few feel-good goosebumps. Take a look, and tell me—do you prefer this more mundane Perry?
