"There's a hair in there . . . and a chair as well." OK, forget about the chair. The real reason Lauren refused to eat a dish on Sunday night's episode of My Kitchen Rules was because there was a long piece of hair in it, belonging to either Hazel or Lisa from Queensland's stepmother-stepdaughter team.

Hazel and Lisa served up salmon croquettes with lime aioli as the first course in their instant restaurant, Zesty. Of course the plate with the hair landed in front of Lauren, who is currently sitting at the bottom of group three's leader board after performing poorly in her instant restaurant round with her husband, Carmine.

"A shot through the heart — I got a hair in my dish," Lauren said in her piece-to-camera about the food incident. "To get a hair in your food, to start off with — it's a deal breaker! I didn't want to touch my plate because I was a little bit grossed out by it." After judges Colin Fassnidge and Rachel Khoo gave Hazel and Lisa their critiques, the rest of the contestants tucked into their entrées, but Lauren refused to touch her plate. This is the first time someone has flat-out refused to eat something on the show.

When Colin asked Carmine and Lauren for their thoughts on the dish, Lauren was frank: "For me, to be honest, I haven't tried anything on my plate because I got a hair in my dish." She showed Colin her plate and added, "It's all up in the salad and stuff. For me, I would send a dish back if I was at a restaurant." Things got even more awkward when Hazel and Lisa returned to clear the plates, only to discover Lauren's dish was exactly the way they had left it.

Do you think Lauren overreacted, or was it unacceptable for the hair to be there?
