Lena Dunham and Ellen DeGeneres Surprising Nurse March 2017

Lena Dunham and Ellen DeGeneres Give an Amazing Nurse the Surprise of Her Life

Lena Dunham has always been open about her struggle with endometriosis, which landed her in the hospital twice. Her illness has had one silver lining, however: she was able to meet an incredibly kind, caring nurse named Jonnella, who helped her through everything. "Nurses are the real heroes of our society" the Girls creator told Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday. "She would make me laugh, we would watch videos, we would listen to Drake, we would giggle." Jonnella happens to be a huge fan of Ellen, so they not only surprised her with a FaceTime call but also airplane tickets for a trip out to LA to watch the show in person for her birthday. Watch Jonnella's surprise above, but be careful — it just might bring a tear to your eye.
