Manu Feildel and Lara Bingle Impress on Week One of Dancing With the Stars Australia

Manu and Lara Have Strong Starts on Dancing With the Stars

Dancing With the Stars returned to Channel Seven last night and it was the first time we got to see the stars of the eleventh series show off the new dancing skills they’ve acquired after weeks of training. The night opened strongly with Damien Leith’s impressive cha-cha routine, but Brynne Edelsten’s performance to Katy Perry’s “Firework” led to comments from the judges about her lack of coordination for week one. The big hit of the night was My Kitchen Rules judge Manu Feildel, who was second-last to perform and raced to the top of the leader board with his Viennese Waltz to Tom Jones’ “What’s New Pussycat.” He also scored a fan in judge Helen Richey, who said, “Great choice of music. It let you show your cheeky personality.” Closing the night was Lara Bingle with a beautiful Viennese Waltz that led Todd McKenney to say, “It was an elegant routine. You probably silenced a lot of your critics.” The 24 points she earned gave her second place on the leader board. Luckily for all the stars — particularly surfing legend Mark Occhilupo, who only got 7 points — no one’s going home next week and they all get to chance to rip up the dance floor again! Who was your favourite from last night?
