MasterChef Australia has come under fire after allowing a contestant to re-plate his dish off screen while the clock was stopped. The controversy started last week when 20-year-old Callum Hann presented his caramel dessert to the judges and it looked very different to what he’d whipped up a few minutes earlier. Producers have admitted that sometimes participants are allowed to re-plate between the challenge and tasting when they’re dealing with ice cream, sorbet or sauces that melt due to the hot studio lights. Judge Gary Mehigan has defended the integrity of the show and says that all re-plating is “done under supervision” and denies that it alters the outcome of the challenge in any way. What do you think? Is MasterChef misleading viewers?
