A salt-crusted guinea fowl proved to be Billy Law’s downfall at the end of the pressure test on MasterChef last night, when a case of raw salad and a “rubbish” jus (to use Gary Mehigan’s description) meant he served up the worst dish, saving Hayden Quinn and Mat Beyer from elimination. But there’s speculation that Billy’s MasterChef journey isn’t quite as finished as last night’s episode suggests, with talk that he could be the contestant called back to replace Mat when he is booted off the show this week after suspicions he used a smartphone to access recipes while in the house. Billy told the Daily Telegraph, “It’s a very special situation. It isn’t a set-up by the producers like last year where they intentionally brought people back to cause drama. It’s unusual circumstances where someone’s breached the rules.”

We got our first glimpse of the big reveal in a preview for Wednesday night’s episode, when Matt Preston arrives at the MasterChef house, sits down the remaining contestants and says, “We have some bad news.” This is preceded by Mat saying to the camera, “He [Matt] doesn’t look very happy.” We can’t wait to see the drama unfold, and with weeks of news leading up to the episode there’s clearly a lot of interest.
