MasterChef Season Three Premiere Had Better Ratings Than the 2011 Logie Awards

MasterChef Cooks Up Better Ratings Than the Logies

Considering most of you told us you’d be watching the season three premiere of MasterChef over the Logie Awards, it’s not surprising that the popular cooking show beat TV’s night of nights in the ratings. MasterChef pulled an audience of 1.57 million while the Logies averaged 1.32 million according to preliminary overnight metro ratings. Both programs started at 7:30 p.m. but MasterChef ended promptly at 9 p.m. and the Logies kept going until midnight, which may have led to people tuning out over the course of the night. (If you missed Karl Stefanovic accepting the Gold Logie you can watch it here.) Funnily enough, the MasterChef judges — Matt Preston, George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and new recruit Matt Moran — were in Melbourne to enjoy the Logies festivities and were on hand to pick up the award for most popular reality TV program.
