Celebrities have tried things such as dancing, cooking, ice-skating and putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test for the sake of TV entertainment and charity. Now comes Channel Seven’s Celebrity Splash, which will see 14 Australian stars performing complicated dives from varying heights of up to 10 metres (with the assistance of professional diving instructors).
The show has already been criticised for the danger involved with the main task, and celebrities have already tweeted about their injuries, including comedian Josh Thomas and TV presenter Laura Csortan. Socialite Brynne Edelsten has also expressed her concern of diving from such heights after breast augmentation. In fact, there’s already been one casualty — the show won’t reveal who’s left until tonight, but former world champion power lifter and Gladiators star Derek Boyer has been called in as a last-minute replacement.
The rest of the cast includes an assortment of sports stars, eye candy and more comedians. They will be judged by Olympic gold medallist divers Matthew Mitcham and Greg Louganis, and aerial skier Alisa Camplin, who has also won gold for Australia. Celebrity Splash premieres tonight at 7:30 p.m. on Channel Seven.
