Just over a month after announcing he was leaving Nova 969’s breakfast show, Merrick Watts is making the transition to Triple M’s drive timeslot next year, which is from 4–6 p.m. on weeknights. In a statement from Austereo, Merrick said, “I’m stoked to be doing drive at Triple M next year. Footy, rock and comedy is a trifecta of good times for me. Can’t wait to start.” Aside from Sydney and Brisbane, he’ll also be heard in Melbourne and Adelaide nightly from 6–8 p.m. Merrick joked on Twitter, “Rumors that I signed to MMM so Eddie Mcguire would give me tix to the grand final are utterly true. Go pies!” During his 10 years at Nova, Merrick started work at 4:45 a.m., which made he feel as though he “lived in a jetlag haze.” He realised that he was still passionate about radio and said he is still on good terms with Nova owner DMG.
