Michael Lynch is the winner of the first series of The Renovators! The 27-year-old builder from South Australia has won the title of being Australia’s best renovator, as well as a huge cash prize of $100,000! His winnings were made up of the total profits from the six houses that were renovated and went under the hammer — after some of the houses failed to make a profit (the half-done house, the sixties suburban and the shop), in the end it came down to the inner city terrace in Glebe, taken to auction by Luke Pollock, and Michael’s fibro cottage in Blacktown. The inner city terrace had sold for $925,000 and made a $25,732 profit, and in order to beat that amount, Michael’s cottage had to sell around the $380,000 mark. After a slow start, the bids started rolling in and the renovated cottage eventually sold for $440,000; Network Ten also rounded the total profit of $94,889 to $100,000. Congratulations to Michael and the team who worked on the fibro cottage!
