Parents mourning the death of their young child is nothing new in terms of movie material, but the subject is explored in Nicole Kidman’s new film Rabbit Hole. The drama follows Becca (Nicole) and Howie Corbett (Aaron Eckhart), a married couple who are dealing with the loss of their young son in an accident. Their different ways of coping provide an emotionally complex backdrop to a very sensitive topic, testing their relationship and causing them to seek solace in other people. It’s based on a Broadway play and premiered last month at the Toronto Film Festival, earning its two leading stars rave reviews. With a supporting cast that includes Dianne Wiest and Sandra Oh, this is a film I’d love to see, especially since it’s a movie close to Nic’s heart (she also produced it).
