A top secret file has revealed new details about Olivia Newton-John’s missing ex-boyfriend, five years after his disappearance. According to documents compiled by the U.S. Coast Guard, Patrick McDermott was deeply in debt, had destroyed many of his personal emails and had apparently researched how to set up a fake identity. He also purchased a hand gun and tried to increase the payout on his life insurance policy before he went missing. The report also claims that he was on Olivia’s payroll and was pocketing money from her when he was drowning in debt and not paying child support. The pair dated for nine years and Olivia claims she had no knowledge of his financial problems. Patrick disappeared during a fishing trip off the coast of Los Angeles, just two weeks after the couple split. He wasn’t heard from until April of this year when he provided evidence that he was alive and begged investigators to leave him alone. Recent sightings have put him in Mexico and Brazil, but the Coast Guard has officially closed their investigation into his disappearance, ruling it a “deadbeat parent” case in which someone escapes from life's responsibilities.
