Wave to the Crowd
Nicole Kidman returned to the Cannes Film Festival in spectacular fashion to premiere her movie Grace of Monaco, which was the opening night attraction. The controversial movie, which recounts Grace Kelly's transformation into Princess Grace of Monaco, isn't in competition, and it wasn't received well by critics at the screening — so far it has been described as "fantastically silly" by The Telegraph and "middlebrow mush" by The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the poor reviews, Nicole, who wowed in a blue Armani dress for the red carpet premiere, expressed some sadness about Princess Grace's family slamming the feature: "Obviously I feel sad because I think the film has no malice towards the family or towards Grace and Rainer. It's fictionalised, obviously; it's not a biopic. There's the essence of truth, but you take dramatic license at times. But I understand that it is their mother and father and I understand the protection of the privacy of their mother and father. It's awkward, but I say that with respect and I want them to know the performance was done with love."
Nicole was at Cannes for the annual event all the way through last year as a member of the jury. Keep reading to see beautiful shots of Nicole at the Grace of Monaco premiere.
